From the Chief of University Police: Campus Safety Update
April 23, 2014

University Police officers at Buffalo State quickly apprehended and arrested four adults and one juvenile Tuesday, April 22, after a male Buffalo State student was assaulted and robbed in Lot G shortly after 9:00 p.m.

The suspects, who are not Buffalo State students, were apprehended on Grant Street less than 10 minutes later by University Police. The victim suffered a laceration to the head and cuts to the face during the incident, in which one suspect displayed a gun. Two students in the vicinity heard the victim’s calls for help. One shouted, causing the robbers to flee, while the other called University Police to report the incident.

As the semester draws to a close and the weather improves, University Police reminds all members of the campus community to be aware of their surroundings at all times both on and off campus. Students, faculty, and staff are encouraged to review the personal safety tips listed on the University Police website at http://police.buffalostate.edu/safetymeasures.

University Police officers will be in the Campbell Student Union lobby during Bengal Pause on Tuesday, April 29, and Thursday, May 1, to provide information on campus safety and free services such as the safe escort program, the Motorist Assistance Program, the NFTA Student Transit Pass program (which makes stops at Tops and Wegmans grocery stores), and the Blue Light Telephone System.
