The University Police Department has received more than $500,000 in grants to augment services, equipment, staff, and programs. Law Enforcement Grant Funding Awards from the U.S. Department of Justice have provided:

additional officers to expand community policing activities

improved equipment, including a law enforcement records management computer system, computer-aided dispatch with terminals in patrol cars, and upgraded radio communications

funding for police-community partnerships under the Problem Solving Partnerships Program used to develop a program to reduce underage drinking

expanded mobile laptop communication systems, a new evidence tracking system, and expanded radio capabilities

Governor's Traffic Safety Committee for seat belt compliance and traffic safety
