In compliance with the federal Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Campus Crime Statistics Act of 1998, the University Police Department at Buffalo State is notifying the campus community of a reported armed robbery occurring in the Tower 4 residence hall Thursday evening, October 18.
At approximately 5:10 p.m., a resident student reported that he was the victim of an armed robbery while in his room. Two suspects, one of which displayed a handgun, robbed him of his cell phone and a backpack. The victim was not injured. The suspects fled the residence hall and campus.
The suspects are described as follows:
Suspect 1 is a black male, 18-20 years of age, wearing a gray hoodie and sweatpants;
Suspect 2 is a black male, 18-20 years of age, wearing jeans, a gray sweatshirt, and black cap.
If you have any information that may be of assistance to investigators, you are encouraged to call the University Police anonymous tip line at (716) 878-3166 or the campus UPD phone number at (716) 878-6333.
There is no evidence of a connection to Tuesday’s off-campus shooting. Both incidents are believed to be targeted in nature and completely unrelated.
University Police reminds all members of the campus community to be aware of their surroundings at all times. In addition, resident students are reminded not to admit anyone but their own visitors into the residence halls, don’t leave residence hall doors ajar, and keep your room door locked when you leave.
