Recognizing Your Escort
University Police officers wear gray uniforms with name badges; University Police Student Assistants (UPSA) wear bright red jackets, red shirts, and ID tags. Each UPSA carries a police radio to stay in touch with the university police dispatch center.
New for Fall 2018: Buffalo State College’s shuttle service will now feature a 16-passenger mini bus operated by Gray Line Niagara Falls/Buffalo. This new mode of transportation for the campus will now be able to service persons with disabilities and is ADA compliant. The new shuttle will also be able to provide transportation for up to 15 students at a time with easy on and off access.
During the day time, the Grant Cleveland Shuttle is a free express shuttle service connecting students, faculty, and staff who park in outlying lots along Rockwell Road and Letchworth Street to the center of campus.
The Grant Cleveland Shuttle (mini bus) picks up riders in Lots G-20 and R-14 and takes them directly to Lot R-4—also known as the Cleveland Circle—from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. when classes are in session.
During evening and overnight hours, the mini bus operates from 4:30 p.m. to 4:30 a.m. seven days a week when classes are in session and provides late-night service to all parking lots and most buildings. To catch this free escort mini bus, wait at a blue-light phone along the route. Because of the size of the new shuttle, Lots I-32, I-33, and I-35 cannot be accessed safely. Please use the web viewer or SmartTraxx app to determine the closest available stop to you.
On weekday evenings and on weekends, the shuttle operates on a grocery route picking up students from stops near the Towers, the Student Apartment Complex and Cleveland Hall and going to Tops and Wegmans and back again. This service operates from 5:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. on weekdays; the weekend hours are from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. when classes are in session.
In support of Buffalo State’s mission to provide safe, timely, and reliable escorts to the campus community, the Gray Line mini bus has been equipped with a web-based Global Positioning System (GPS) to track the location of the vehicles. Using the mini bus Location Service, riders can track the location of the shuttle, on either the day or evening shuttle route via the web or smart phone.
Riders will know their min bus’s location and be able to project its arrival time at the location where they are waiting.
The Buffalo State Web Viewer provides quick and convenient access that allows you to view the location of the escort vans in real time, along with the route of your choice. Click on the name of the route you wish to use to access the map and shuttle locations from the list below:
